The award-winning design for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital seamlessly blends pure geometry with the organic forms of the Emirati landscape to foster healing and well-being.
Inspired by the native Ghaf tree—a symbol of life and resilience—the design translates the tree’s enduring, twisting form into a deeply contextual healing setting. Working with this organic torsion, the landscape provides vital shade and passive cooling, unfolding into a variety of communal and secluded spaces that tie directly into the interior program.
Through a series of open-air serenity courtyards and distinct therapeutic gardens, the site immerses patients and their families in a calming, restorative environment. This design serves as a comforting and sustaining retreat that greatly elevates the human experience during treatment, establishing a new standard for holistic care.
